Cascade Classic kicked off atop Old McKenzie Pass

Florenz Knauer, Francisco Mancebo and Dion Smith at the finish line awards ceremony. Mancebo (Canyon Bicycles) and Kristin Armstrong (Twenty 16-ShoAir) won the men’s and women’s opening stage respectively of the five-day Cascade Cycling Classic on Wednesday. The 2015 event opened with a revised version of the McKenzie Pass Road Race. The initial route began in Madras and sent riders through Prineville, Redmond and Sisters before finishing with a 22km climb to the Dee Wright Observatory on Hwy. 242. Armstrong also finished first in the Stage 2 event, a 25.6km time trial at the Crooked River Park in Prineville the following day.
