Boat Safety Rodeo and Guide Cook-Off

Classic Dutch oven cooking will be featured during the McKenzie River Guides cook-off to be judged by three celebrity judges. In addition, Marc Boyd from the Oregon State Police will be conducting free boat safety inspections. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Classic Dutch oven cooking will be featured during the McKenzie River Guides cook-off to be judged by three celebrity judges. The event supports the “Free Life Jacket” program that provides free life jackets to visitors along the McKenzie River - available at participating vendors along the McKenzie corridor.
During the day, the Marc Boyd from the Oregon State Police will be conducting annual boat inspections and McKenzie Fire and Rescue will be demonstrating swift water rescues.
Judging for the 5th annual McKenzie River Guides Outdoor Cook-Off is set for 1 p.m. Participants will be demonstrating Dutch oven cooking techniques, grilling fresh food, frying chicken and providing other outdoor food delicacies.
All proceeds from the Cook-Off and Raffle support the “Free Life Jacket” program. Lane County Parks is waiving Park fees during the event. Contact Jon Payne, 541-579-3474 for more details.
