Book signing for Sister John

Sister JohnSister John Backenstos is well-known by people up and down the McKenzie River for her undying efforts to help those in need.  Whether by providing food or other necessary items she lived out her call as a religious sister to help those who had no one else to help them.

Well into her 90’s she finally realized that she had done all she could and accepted “retirement” and is now living at the Holy Names Sisters convent in Lake Oswego.

In the process of moving Sister John from McKenzie Bridge her helpers came across a collection of poems that she had been writing for many years.  The poems were collected, re-printed and bound into a book which has just been published.

On Sunday, December 15th,  Sr. John will come back to St. Benedict Lodge for a “Book Signing Celebration” and party.  The gathering will immediately follow the regular 9:30 a.m. Mass - at about 10:30.

Everyone is welcome to join in this festive occasion to congratulate Sr. John and, perhaps, get a copy of her book of poems.  Refreshments, of course, will be provided.
