A bit of Spring cleaning

Log truck at Leaburg LakeLEABURG: Passersby may have been surprised to see a logging operation underway on the banks of Leaburg Lake last Wednesday. Eugene Water & Electric Board spokesman Joe Harwood said it involved a big fir, just back from the picnic/dock area, that was hit by an excavator three or four years ago. “We noticed the tree dying last year, so decided it had to come down.,” Harwood notes. “The guy who hauled it away plans to turn a section of that tree into a large bench, which will go brought back to the location once he’s finished.”
