FINN ROCK: “This is a great opportunity for all of us to set aside our negativity, egos and our agendas to come together,” was the way McKenzie School Board member Debbie Peterson helped set the stage for last Wednesday’s monthly meeting. Board chairman Kent Roberts shared those sentiments by saying, “Change is good, can be good and should be good. I’d like to restore the ‘happy,’” he added, noting that, ”We haven’t been happy. It’s been a rough three or four years.”

Maintenance work also planned for Walterville

Leaburg boatThe Eugene Water & Electric Board began dewatering the Leaburg Power Canal on Saturday morning, April 26, to perform maintenance on the power plant, canal and fish screen.

Happy anglerThe 2014 outdoor recreation season will get a boost this weekend starting with the annual Fisherman’s Breakfast, set for Saturday, April 26th. The event, sponsored by McKenzie Fire & Rescue at the Leaburg Training Center, will be held between 6 and 11 a.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for kids.

Fund thermometerPeople interested in seeing the Arch reconstructed in Springfield contributed to an online fundraising project launched in June of 2013. The money they contributed was used to construct the scale model. To learn more about the project on Kickstarter click here.
