    Finn J.D. John|Jun 6, 2024

Part Two: Legendary raconteur Reub Long, the “Sage of Fort Rock,” packed a whole lot into his 76 years living in central Oregon. Most of it — though by no means all — had to do with horses. “The ranch I have and the things I’ve done were due to horses,” he wrote in his book. “I had workhorses for hire by contractors for freighting, haying, or construction jobs; I owned riding and pack horses for running dude outfits in the mountains; I raised riding horses to sell; I supplied bucking horses...

  • Growing vigorous kiwi takes care and a strong trellis

    Kym Pokorny|Jun 6, 2024

If you have a good strong trellis, are a bit of a gambler, and have a love of kiwifruit, there’s no reason not to grow your crop. As vigorous as they are, though, don’t expect to plop these vines into the ground and stand back. There are three types of kiwifruit, Davis explained, the most common being the fuzzy kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa) available at the grocery store, usually the cultivar called ‘Hayward.’ Joining the lineup are hardy kiwifruit (A. arguta); and kolomikta or arctic kiwifru...

My younger brother seems okay, but I'm scared something will happen to him as well. I love my family and have taken a lot of their baggage and put it upon myself. I remember my...

Before my flight, I received an email saying my flight time had...
