    Great Nothern Blue River - named in 1863, the year in which gold was discovered in the area. No doubt the name was used in a descriptive sense, as the clear water of the stream appears blue-green due to the color of the rock formations of the river channel.     River cleanup The McKenzie River Guides Association, McKenzie Watershed Council, and the McKenzie Fly Fishers invite people to volunteer for this fun-filled annual family event.
