    Dec 7, 2023

She attended McKenzie Schools until the ninth grade when her desire to be part of the military caused h...

Iconic food items invented in Oregon By Finn J.D. John At the time of this writing, the Christmas shopping season is just starting to spool up, and folks are getting ready for some serious holiday eating. Most likely, that festive feasting won’t include many of the things on this list. Although inventors from the Beaver State have had a big impact at the grocery store, most of what they’ve created would be a bit out of place at a Christmas dinner. The big exceptions are the products created by...

  • Maintaining a moss-free roof takes some effort

    Kym Pokorny, OSU Extension|Dec 7, 2023

In the moist Pacific Northwest, moss on roofs is inevitable. The ubiquitous plant clings to shingles, causing damage that can lead to expensive repairs and replacements. There’s nothing to be done about the moisture, but moss also needs shade to grow. The key to keeping it at bay is to trim trees so sunlight filters to the surface of the roof. “You can clean all you want but to keep moss at bay, the environment needs to change, said Jay Pscheidt, a plant pathologist with Oregon State Uni...

    Wayne and Tamara Mitchell|Dec 7, 2023

I'm attracted to my manager. He was the one who showed his interest to me first by complimenting me and making wonderful eye contact. He is single and one year younger than me. Until today he only asked me out one time and that was when a close friend of ours also attended the dinner and we had so much fun. Indeed I never gave him enough opportunity to approach closer because I was not sure if this was wise in terms of office ethics. He has a good reputation in my company for his character,...

  • PROBLEM SOLVED

After Elizabeth Scott opens savings accounts for her kids, Bank of America completely depletes them with an $8 monthly "maintenance" fee. Is there any hope she can recover the money? In late 2019, I opened two savings accounts for my children at Bank of America. I have held an account with BofA for over 20 years, so I was able to set them up online quickly. However, since the balance was so low on each child's account ($150), I noticed that they would be charged $8 a month as a maintenance fee....

Dollar cancels Vivian Everhart's rental when she tries to swap out an unsatisfactory car. Can she get a refund from the company, or does she have to pay for a car she couldn't use? I recently booked a rental car with Dollar through Priceline. My car did not have a front or rear license plate, so I had to bring it back to the rental location that night. The second car Dollar gave me was not the size I reserved. It was too small to accommodate my passengers. The following day, I finally got...
