    McKenzie Varsity Sports Schedule This Week The Eagle Varsity Volleyball team will host the Mohawk Indians this Wed., Oct. 9 with a JV match scheduled to start at 4:30 pm., followed by the Varsity match at 6:00 pm. McKenzie will honor it’s Volleyball Seniors and their Parents at the event. The next afternoon, the Varsity Team will travel to Alsea to participate in a three-way match with the Wolverines and the Siletz Valley Warriors.     TRACK TALK Track building By Pete Petty Pictured here is the latest photo of construction at the track. The second story of the 3000 square foot building is on the way up. With electricity on site now, the framework may be complete by press time! This second floor of the new building will be used as a meeting space for the board of directors of the nonprofit MCTF organization and will also be available to other groups and organizations.     Eagles Drop Opener to Lowell in 4 Sets In an early dust up featuring two of the Mt. West League’s top Volleyball teams, the visiting Lowell Red Devils defeated the McKenzie Eagles at Finn Rock on Tuesday in 4 sets, 25-18, 25-27, 25-20, and 25-22.     Experienced Wolves Wallop Eagles The Days Creek Wolves handed the host McKenzie Eagles a 60-20 thumping last Friday night in the non-league 2013 season opener for both 8-man football teams. The Wolves senior led team dominated the relatively inexperienced Eagles, who finished the game with 8 players on the field due to injury and ineligibility issues.     Walterville parade It will be “Fair Day” on September 7th. The Walterville Grange plans to be “All Ducked Out” for the 63rd annual Walterville Community Fair. The event will have a new schedule this year so be sure to plan ahead.     Long jump BLUE RIVER: Two “All Comers Meets” are coming to the McKenzie Community Track & Field on consecutive Mondays - July 1st, and 8th, both at 6 p.m. The public is invited to test their skill for a long or high jump or how far they can throw.     Eagle Spring Sports Awards McKenzie High held its annual Spring Sports Awards Ceremony last Tuesday, June 4, honoring several outstanding Varsity athletes in Baseball, Golf and Track and Field.     Nastasiuk Nails 3rd At State Track Meet McKenzie's sophomore Nick Nastasiuk raced to a 3rd place finish at the OSAA State 1A Track and Field Meet held at Hayward Field last Thursday and Friday, May 23,24. Nastasiuk's time in the Finals Race was 42.48, breaking the new McKenzie record for the event he established in the District Meet the week prior.     Warriors Wallop Eagles, 14-4 Oakridge needed only five innings, last Thursday, April 16, to send visiting McKenzie packing as they slammed the Eagles with their worst loss of the 2013 Baseball season 14-4, the game called due to the 10 run mercy rule.     McKenzie Upsets 13th Ranked Lowell: Anderson Notches Two Wins in One Day McKenzie upset the Lowell Red Devils, twice, in Lowell last Thursday, April 11. In the first game, a District 3 League counter, the Eagles and Red Devils resumed a game that had started on April 5 and had to be postponed in the 6th inning due to rain.
