Red Devils Douse Eagle Fire, Put Damper on Eagle Senior Night

The stage was set. McKenzie Volleyball Senior Night. McKenzie tied for first place with Lowell in the Mt. West League Valley Division. The Eagles, currently sporting one of the State’s longest winning streaks, ranked 11th in the OSAA State rankings, and savoring an opportunity to avenge McKenzie’s only League loss by hosting Lowell, the offending team, at home, believed they owned a script to good to be true. It was. Much to the Eagle’s chagrin, it wasn’t the home team celebrating a defining victory on a special night honoring McKenzie’s seniors and their parents. Instead, Lowell, who brought their own very loud and supportive boosters, sealed the deal by defeating the Eagles in 3 sets, 25-21, 29-27, and 25-15. For the match, Peace Shepherd and Corinna Price led the Eagle attack with 5 kills apiece. Shepherd also contributed 2 blocks and 8 digs. Sydney King led her team again with 13 digs and Katey Totten added 10 assists and 8 digs.
