River unplugged

MCKENZIE BRIDGE: The Oregon State Marine Board warned last Thursday that a big tree was completely blocking the McKenzie River approximately 1/4 mile downstream of the Paradise Boat Ramp. Early reports that it had been felled into the river didn’t pan out when investigated by the Lane County Marine Patrol.

They reported a landowner had intended to drop the tree into the woods, but it “went the wrong way.”

Steve Schaefers and Wade Scofield cleared the channel on Sunday, cutting the tree near its base, allowing it to move off into a shallow.
