MCKENZIE BRIDGE: The Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Lane County Medical Examiner, is completing an investigation into the death of a Springfield man found deceased Wednesday in his vehicle at a McKenzie River viewpoint along Highway 126 near Belknap Springs. Initial investigation indicates the death is from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On October 15th, at approximately 8:35 a.m., an Oregon Dept. of Transportation employee stopped to check a 1991 Honda Civic parked at the viewpoint along near milepost 15 of the Clear Lake Cutoff. The ODOT employee reported discovering a deceased adult male inside the car.
OSP responded to the scene to investigate. The deceased was identified as David Peter Cada, 45, from Springfield.
