Make the McKenzie Connection!
Our girls Basketball team is headed back to Baker City for the third time in four years for the OSAA State Championships this week! Thanks to our great fans who packed the gym on Saturday night. Our girls defeated Trinity Lutheran 45-33. We had previously lost twice to the Saints this year. Your support played a huge role in the victory. Thanks again for coming.
The Eagles were led once again by MWL player of the year Buggy Hiddleston with 18 points, and eight rebounds. 1st team selection Katey Totten added 10 points and six rebounds. 2nd team member Jorden Smith proved to be clutch down the stretch with key free throws. She had nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
With qualifying for the trip to Baker City, the girls will have a tough test with #2 ranked North Douglas at 8:15pm on Thursday March 5th. You can listen to the game at http://www.osaa.org/media. The complete bracket is here, http://www.osaa.org/activities/gbx/brackets.

On Wednesday morning at 8:05am we'll be having a send-off pep assembly in the Old Gym. For those of you new to our school, we'll meet in the gym and allow the coaches and players to speak a bit. Then, the entire school (K-12 is highly encouraged to attend) will form a processional as the team heads to their bus. This is a great opportunity to show our appreciation of our players and coaches for their hard work and positive representation of our community. Typically the local fire department also provides a motorcade as they drive East en route to Baker City. I invite the community to come and join in the send-off as well. This is a very special opportunity for our school and community. The season started with 60 1A schools and we are down to the final eight! GO EAGLES!
For those of you interested in helping supplement the cost of our travel and meal expenses, please contact myself or Pam in the office.
Have a great week and GO EAGLES!
