Buggy Hiddleston 3rd At State In Shot Put, 4th In Javelin, McKenzie Girls Place 20th

McKenzie's talented and versa-tile all-around athlete Buggy Hiddleston scored 11 McKenzie's 13 total points earned at the OSAA 1A Track and Field State Championships last Thursday and Friday, May 21 and 22, held at Hayward Field. The Eagle senior has led her team all season long and her final meet in a McKenzie singlet was no different. Hiddle-ston placed fourth in the Javelin Finals to earn the first five-team points for the Eagles and she did so with a personal record throw of 110-08 ft.

The next day, the District 5 Shot Put Champion captured 3rd place honors in the Shot Put with a heave of 34-05.25 ft., just 1.25 inches behind the 2nd place throw by Mirna Daltoso of Mitchell/Spray. That accomplishment netted the Eagles another six points towards the team total.

McKenzie junior Idgie Glynn added the final two points with a 7th place finish in the 100 meter Hurdles Final. Glynn's time in the event was 17.99 seconds, just a bit slower than her 7th place time of 17.96 sec. in the 100 m. Hurdles Preliminary race. Glynn also took a non-scoring 12th place finish in the Triple Jump with a leap of 29-02.75 ft.

Eagle freshman Paige Lowry wrapped up her inaugural Varsity season with a 12th place non-scoring finish in the Long Jump, leaping 13-06.25 ft., a personal record.

Fellow freshman Naomi Satchell, in her first trip to the State Championship Meet, ran her 800 m. Final race in 2:41.77 min., which placed her a non-scoring 11th place. Senior Katey Totten placed 12th in the 200 m. Preliminary race with a time of 29.64 sec. and did not qualify for the 200 m. Final race.

McKenzie's 4x100 m. Relay team, comprised of Satchell, Tott-en, sophomore Miyanna Hayes, and Glynn took 10th place honors with a time of 55.95 sec., the best time of the 2015 season for the Eagles in the event. And the McKenzie 4x400 m. Relay team, consisting of Satchell, Lowry, Hayes and Totten finished in 11th place with a time of 4:55.21 min., again a 2015 season best.

McKenzie senior Jeff Bayer ran a personal best 800 m. time of 2:10.29 min. which earned him a 10th place, non-scoring finish at the State Meet. Eagle junior Drew Hamlow was the only other McKenzie Boy to participate and he placed 12th in the 200 m. preliminary race and did not qualify for the 200 m. Final.
