Want to vote?

The voter registration deadline for the May 17, 2016 Primary Election is Tuesday, April 26, 2016. This is also the deadline to change your party affiliation.

People who are not registered to vote in any Oregon county may register online at oregonvotes.gov no later than 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, April 26. The online option is available only to those with a valid Oregon driver’s license, DMV-issued identification card or learner’s permit.

Other registration options:

· Submit a voter registration form to the Elections Office by 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26.

· Mail a voter registration card to the Elections Office with a postmark no later than Tuesday, April 26.

New voters who will turn 18 on or before the May 17 Election Day may register by the April 26 deadline and receive a ballot, even if they are still 17 on the deadline date.

Primary elections are held so the members of a party can choose the party’s candidates for office. Only registered Democrats can vote to nominate candidates for the Democratic Party and only registered Republicans can vote to nominate candidates for the Republican Party. Other registered voters will receive a ballot with nonpartisan offices only.
